Blainville, April 11, 2025 – Since 2009, residents of Sainte-Thérèse have benefited from a simple and eco-friendly service that gives new life to their cedar trimmings, thanks to Arbressence. Once again this year, the City of Sainte-Thérèse is renewing its partnership with the company, reaffirming its commitment to encouraging sustainable practices and reducing its environmental footprint.

In 2024, 917 collections were carried out across Sainte-Thérèse, allowing for the recovery of just over 96 tons of cedar trimmings—an impressive volume that reflects strong citizen participation. With a participation rate of approximately 7%, the City is eager to keep the momentum going and invites even more residents to take advantage of this free service.

A practical and completely free service

From May 1 to October 31, 2025, residents can schedule their collection online through the Arbressence website and place their cedar trimmings at the edge of their driveway. Within 24 to 48 hours, the trimmings will be picked up and transported to the distillery in Blainville, where they will be transformed into cedar essential oil and reusable mulch, which is useful in agriculture.

A local action with positive outcomes

The Acting Mayor of Sainte-Thérèse, Ms. Jacynthe Prince, is pleased with this long-standing partnership and its positive impacts. “By having their trimmings collected, the citizens of Sainte-Thérèse take part in a circular economy model that reduces green waste and, at the same time, helps lower the City’s landfill costs. Each year, this initiative contributes to making Sainte-Thérèse a greener city, committed to ecological transition,” she said.

About Arbressence: Arbressence is the largest producer of conifer essential oil in Canada. With 20 years of experience in cedar recycling, Arbressence is recognized for its commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
