Blainville, April 10, 2025 – The City of Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines continues its commitment to sustainable development by renewing its partnership with Arbressence. Since 2009, residents of Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines have benefited from this completely free service, which allows them to dispose of their cedar trimmings in an eco-friendly and responsible way.

In 2024, a total of 371 collections were carried out across Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines. These citizen-initiated pickups helped divert nearly 39 tons of organic material that would otherwise have ended up in landfills. With a 6% participation rate, Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines stands out for its environmental engagement. Furthermore, an encouraging increase in collections compared to 2023 suggests even greater participation in 2025!

A Simple and Accessible Service for Citizens

Residents can schedule their pickup on the Arbressence website from April 1 to November 1. Once the trimmings are placed at the edge of their driveway, they are collected within 24 to 48 hours and transported to the distillery in Blainville. There, the trimmings are shredded and distilled to extract essential oil, while the residual mulch is redistributed to regional agricultural partners.

A Simple Action for a Greener Future

By actively participating in this program, the community of Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines contributes to waste reduction, the recovery of natural resources, and the reduction of municipal waste management costs. With steady growth, the City hopes to build on this momentum in 2025 and increase its participation rate even further.
