Blainville, April 14, 2025 – The City of L’Assomption has once again chosen to work with Arbressence to ensure the recycling of cedar trimmings throughout its territory. Thanks to increased citizen engagement, collection volumes jumped by 125% from 2023 to 2024, suggesting a record-breaking 2025 season!

Indeed, last summer, more than 57 tonnes of cedar trimmings were repurposed, thanks to residents who used Arbressence’s free service. L’Assomption once again confirms its commitment to sustainable and responsible practices. This strong participation highlights the growing interest of L’Assomption citizens in ecological solutions that reduce green waste while promoting a circular economy.

A simple, turnkey, and free service

Available from May 1 to October 31, 2025, the service allows residents to schedule a pickup online and place their cedar trimmings at the edge of their driveway. Within 24 to 48 hours, Arbressence collects them and transports them to its distillery in Blainville, where they are transformed into essential oil and reusable residual mulch for agricultural partners who use it as an eco-friendly fill material.

A small gesture with a big impact

By participating in this program, L’Assomption residents directly contribute to reducing municipal landfill costs and, at the same time, to protecting the environment. Building on this momentum, the City hopes to see even more residents get involved in 2025 to keep the initiative going strong and maximize the project’s ecological benefits.

About Arbressence: Arbressence is the largest producer of conifer essential oils in Canada. With 20 years of experience in cedar recycling, Arbressence is recognized for its commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
