Blainville, April 12, 2025 – The residents of Pointe-Calumet showed strong environmental commitment in 2024 by using the cedar trimmings collection service offered by Arbressence. With 255 pickups recorded, citizen participation increased by 17% compared to 2023, reaching an impressive rate of 9%.
This enthusiasm helped divert 27 tons of cedar trimmings from landfills, contributing to the reduction of green waste and the transformation of this material into sustainable products such as cedar essential oil and residual mulch. In doing so, Pointe-Calumet reaffirms its commitment to eco-friendly practices and encourages its residents to keep up the momentum in the coming years.
An eco-conscious service accessible to all
From April 14 to November 1, residents can register online and leave their cedar trimmings at the curb. Within 48 hours, Arbressence collects and transforms them into essential oil and reusable mulch as part of a circular economy approach. This entirely free service for residents not only helps reduce the Municipality’s environmental footprint but also gives cedar trimmings a second life.
By making it easier to manage green waste responsibly, Pointe-Calumet is helping preserve its living environment and reduce the environmental impacts associated with landfilling. The success of this initiative reflects strong citizen engagement and highlights the importance of partnerships like the one between the municipality and Arbressence.
Small action, big impact
Thanks to this initiative, Pointe-Calumet is lowering landfill costs while promoting sustainable practices. Encouraged by these positive results, the Town is renewing its partnership with Arbressence and hopes for even greater participation in 2025. With increased engagement, the municipality could break a new record and strengthen its role as a leader in local environmental initiatives.
