Blainville, July 23rd, 2024 – Arbressence, the largest producer of conifer essential oil in Canada, is pleased to announce its new partnership with the Municipality of Sainte-Mélanie, located in the Joliette RCM. By becoming the third municipality to sign an agreement with Arbressence, Sainte-Mélanie joins an innovative environmental initiative for cedar recycling.
This partnership reflects Sainte-Mélanie’s commitment to sustainable development and the responsible management of its waste. By offering this service, the municipality provides its citizens with an eco-friendly solution for disposing of their cedar trimmings, thereby contributing to the reduction of organic waste in landfills.
After trimming their cedar hedges, residents of Sainte-Mélanie can easily schedule a collection by using the form available on the website or by calling 450-434-7512. Arbressence will collect the trimmings within 48 hours. This simple and free process allows citizens to actively participate in the circular economy.
The cedar trimmings will be collected and brought to Arbressence’s distillery in Blainville. They will then be distilled to extract essential oil. The residual mulch from this process will be repurposed and used as eco-friendly fill.
