Blainville, April 28, 2025 — After a promising first year, the City of Châteauguay is renewing its agreement with Arbressence for 2025 and is already setting the tone: to become a model municipality in cedar trimming collection.
A promising first year
Launched in 2024 within the city, the service resulted in 153 citizen collection requests, totaling 16.07 tons of cedar trimmings recovered. This material is then processed locally by Arbressence and transformed into 100% natural essential oil. This transformation process diverts waste from landfills. In fact, more than 6,000 tons of trimmings are collected and repurposed each year through this service, actively contributing to the circular economy. The City’s goal is clear: to significantly increase citizen participation starting this year, and make Châteauguay a leader in sustainable green waste management.
A call to local action
By renewing this agreement, the City of Châteauguay demonstrates its commitment to creating real change. This initiative adds to the many environmental actions already underway in the community. The City is counting on the involvement of its citizens to take simple yet powerful actions. Châteauguay is relying on the strength of collective action, where every citizen becomes an agent of change, helping to build a greener community.
Service available again from May 1 to October 31
Simple and free, the collection service will be available again from May 1 to October 31, 2025. To schedule a pickup, residents simply need to complete an online request on Arbressence’s website at https://arbressence.ca/reserver-une-collecte/. Just a few clicks, and it’s done!
