Blainville, May 27, 2025 — Some collaborations stand the test of time with strength! That’s certainly true of the partnership between the City of Lorraine and Arbressence, proudly renewed for the year 2025. Since 2009, Lorraine has been one of the pioneering municipalities to invest in the local repurposing of cedar trimmings—and the results keep coming.

Outstanding participation… once again!

In 2024, 672 collection requests were processed in the area, representing 70.56 tons of repurposed cedar trimmings. With a participation rate of 19.55%, Lorraine remains one of the most committed cities.

A green city… and proud of it!

The photo accompanying this release was taken during Gardening Week, a popular annual event held from May 8 to 13. It was a great opportunity for the City to highlight its environmental commitment and encourage residents to take sustainable actions—like having their cedar trimmings collected!

A green and local loop

Thanks to this agreement, the trimmings collected in Lorraine do not end up in landfills. Instead, they are transformed—right here in Blainville—into 100% natural essential oil. This circular economy model helps reduce waste, extend the life of organic materials, and boost the local economy, all while giving value to the eco-friendly actions of citizens.

The service has already resumed

The season is underway, and residents can schedule a collection up until October 31, 2025. Citizens can easily book their collection in just a few clicks directly on Arbressence’s website. A simple, free, and eco-friendly service.

About Arbressence: Arbressence is the largest producer of conifer essential oil in Canada. With 20 years of experience in cedar recycling, Arbressence is recognized for its commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
