Blainville, March 25, 2025 – Since 2017, the City of Charlemagne has entrusted Arbressence with the collection of cedar trimmings within its territory. Eight years later, this partnership continues, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to eco-friendly practices and reducing green waste.

In 2024, nearly 5 tons of cedar trimmings were collected thanks to the participation of Charlemagne’s citizens. However, this represents only a 1.46% citizen participation rate. This year, Arbressence and the City of Charlemagne are encouraging residents to increase their involvement to maximize the environmental and economic benefits of this initiative.

A Simple, Eco-Friendly, and 100% Free Service

From April 1 to November 1, citizens can easily take advantage of this service by scheduling a pickup on Arbressence’s website. They simply need to place their cedar trimmings in bags or piles at the edge of their driveway. The trimmings will be collected within 24 to 48 hours and transported to Arbressence’s distillery in Blainville, where they will be shredded and distilled to extract essential oil. Arbressence also repurposes the residual mulch from the process, redistributing it to agricultural partners for use as field backfill.

An Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective Action for Charlemagne

By participating in this program, citizens take concrete action for the environment while helping to reduce the city’s collection and landfill costs. A simple action that benefits everyone!

Arbressence and the City of Charlemagne rely on residents’ engagement to make this season a success and increase participation rates. Together, let’s continue adopting sustainable actions for our city and our planet.
