Arbressence and the City of Sainte-Catherine partner to offer a cedar trimmings collection service to citizens

Ville de Sainte-Catherine

Blainville, April 16, 2024 – Arbressence, the largest producer of conifer essential oils in Canada, is pleased to announce its partnership with the City of Sainte-Catherine, located in the Montérégie region, to offer a new cedar trimmings collection service to citizens starting April 15.

This collaboration will allow Sainte-Catherine residents to responsibly and ecologically dispose of their cedar trimmings, diverting them from landfills. Residents can schedule a collection online via Arbressence’s website or by phone at 450-434-7512. They simply need to place the cedar trimmings in piles or bags at the edge of the road, and a truck will collect them within 48 hours of the request.

By distilling the cedar trimmings to extract essential oil, Arbressence is fully committed to a circular economy approach, thus valorizing this valuable raw material. The residual mulch from the distillation process can be used as ecological backfill, giving a second life to a material that would otherwise be lost. This initiative aligns perfectly with the City of Sainte-Catherine’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

Arbressence encourages all citizens to participate in this collective effort and hopes they will take advantage of this opportunity to reduce their ecological footprint by avoiding sending these trimmings to landfills, where they would contribute to greenhouse gas emissions during their decomposition.
