Blainville, April 1, 2025 – Since 2024, the residents of Bois-des-Filion have had access to Arbressence’s cedar trimming collection service, and their environmental commitment is already making an impact. In just one year, citizen participation has more than doubled, increasing from 208 collections in 2023 to 269 in 2024, an impressive 129% growth.

With a 6% participation rate and over 28 tons of trimmings repurposed, Bois-des-Filion is establishing itself as a municipality committed to sustainable development. This success highlights strong community engagement in a local initiative that reduces green waste while contributing to a circular economy model.

A simple, efficient, and 100% free service

From April 1 to November 1, residents can schedule a collection online and leave their cedar trimmings at the edge of their driveway. Within 24 to 48 hours, Arbressence collects them and transports them to its Blainville distillery, where they are processed into cedar essential oil and repurposed mulch.

An eco-friendly action that benefits everyone

By using this service, the residents of Bois-des-Filion actively contribute to reducing landfill costs and preserving the environment. Encouraged by this highly positive first year, the City hopes to see even more citizens participate in 2025, further increasing these numbers and strengthening this collective commitment.
