Spring purification

Spring purification

That’s it, one more winter over. It’s spring, the season of rebirth. Who says rebirth also says resurrection of our insect friends. While some are beneficial to the environment, they are unpleasant for us humans. We only have to think of the ants that infiltrate our homes very subtly and quickly invade our space, as well as the pleasant aphids, mites and midges which, although more discreet, cause multiple damages. Know that essential oils can help you!

First, frequently sanitize the ambient air by ventilating the house. You can use a room spray designed with cedar essential oils, notably the Cedar Leaf air freshener. These vaporizers with unique synergies have antiseptic and antibacterial properties that will help purify your environment.

For a deeper purification, it is possible to use essential oils by putting a few drops in a diffuser which will act over a longer duration. The essential oils recommended are the oils of Cedar leaves, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Peppermint and of course, Citronella although for the latter, the odor being more tenacious, it will be preferred for large rooms benefiting from a good air circulation.

Second step: attack mode …

Help! Our little visitors have taken up residence in your bedroom, your drawers, dressers, chests and cedar cabinets and you no longer know what to do. First of all, empty the contents of your furniture, pass a fine sandpaper to remove the encrusted dirt, then vacuum. Once these steps are completed, all that remains is to pour Cedarwood essential oil on a sponge and gently rub your furniture over the entire surface. Not only will this repel moths that don’t like the overly concentrated smell, it will act as a varnish by moistening the wood and thus allowing conservation.

And for carpenter ants; those who have fun devouring the structure of your little nest? Personally I tried many tricks and other unsavory products to finally use in a sprayer, a mixture of 10 ml of cedar essential oil in a liter of water, and then spray their favorite spots. I will not tell you that it stopped the invasion of ants the first time, but it certainly helped to considerably reduce the proliferation. So my battles were reduced to about twice during the spring and summer. Considering that the use of toxic products is harmful for all members of my family; two or three fights with cedar essential oil is just war with the prospect of keeping a roof over our heads. So go ahead, take out your diffusers and essential oil sprays. You will appreciate it only more in summer!
